The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the have actually risen the rate of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
