Albums
The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed The members of the band did sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for its lack of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen left The band held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The group has also released numerous compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the band is "Africa" which has more than one billion views. The video is set in a library, and shows the band performing on top of a book about Africa.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their fame after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group was joined by touring backing musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo record, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, quit the group due to personal reasons. Toto decided to conduct an audition and eventually chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Prior to and during the time of Toto's formation, its members worked as session musicians for a broad range of artists. Toto was founded after Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees.
